Fire

Established in 1889, the Johnson City Fire Department provides around the clock fire protection, search and rescue, pre-hospital care and other critical public safety services to residents and visitors to the Village.

Currently standing at 29 members, the JCFD not only provides an immediate response to over two thousand emergencies every year, its personnel also strive to prevent them by continually educating the public in fire, life safety and disaster preparedness, along with conducting annual New York State Fire Code Inspections at every business inside its jurisdiction. In fact, the Department’s Fire Prevention programs have served as the model for many other agencies throughout the region, and it currently provides the ONLY Juvenile Fire-Starter Intervention and Education program in Broome and surrounding counties.
